
THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD is 40

Musical Theatre Melodiesbroadcast on Tuesday, 23rd December will feature a 40th anniversary tribute to the Rupert Holmes musical The Mystery of Edwin Drood (suggested by the unfinished novel of the same name by Charles Dickens), from the 1985 original Broadway cast recording starring Betty Buckley, Cleo Laine and George Rose, with Patti Cohenour, Howard McGillin, Jerome Dempsey, Stephen Glavin, Joe Grifasi, John Herrera, George N Martin and Jana Schneider.
This will be preceded by an interview with the Tony Award-winning composer–lyricist–librettist – Rupert Holmes.
CHARLIE GIRL – from 1965

Musical Theatre Melodies broadcast on Tuesday, 16th December will feature a 60th anniversary tribute to the David Heneker and John Taylor musical Charlie Girl, from the 1965 original London cast recording starring Joe Brown, Anna Neagle, Hy Hazell, Christine Holmes, Stuart Damon and Derek Nimmo; plus additional numbers from the 1986 London revival cast recording with Cyd Charisse, Paul Nicholas and Lisa Hull.
This will be preceded by an interview with composer–lyricist – John Taylor.
SNOOPY – the musical hits 50

Musical Theatre Melodies broadcast on Tuesday, 9th December will feature a 50th anniversary tribute to the Larry Grossman and Hal Hackady musical Snoopy (based on the comic strip “Peanuts” by Charles M. Schulz), from the 1983 original London cast recording starring Teddy Kempner, Robert Locke, Nicky Croydon, Susie Blake, Zoë Bright, Mark Hadfield and Anthony Best.
This will be preceded by an interview with the Tony Award-nominated and Emmy Award-winning composer – Larry Grossman.
The programme will conclude with a tribute to the late Australian musical comedy actress and singer, Toni Lamond featuring an excerpt from her cabaret show “A Life in Show Business” recorded “live” in performance at The School of Arts Café, Queanbeyan, New South Wales in March 1994.
PIPE DREAMS – from Rodgers & Hammerstein

Musical Theatre Melodies broadcast on Tuesday, 2nd December will feature a 70th anniversary tribute to the Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II musical Pipe Dream (based on the novels Cannery Row and Sweet Thursday by John Steinbeck), from the 2012 New York City Center Encores! “live” revival cast recording starring Will Chase, Laura Osnes, Leslie Uggams, James Clow, Philip Hernández, Steve Routman, Stephen Wallem and Tom Wopat.
This will be preceded by an introduction by the former President of the Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization* – Ted Chapin
